• WEBSITES & ONLINE WORKS: Literary Work for novels, articles, dissertations, poems, short stories, nonfiction works, computer programs, websites, or dissertations.

• COMPUTER PROGRAMS: Literary Work for novels, articles, dissertations, poems, short stories, nonfiction works, computer programs, websites, or dissertations.

• WRITTEN MATERIALS: Literary Work for novels, articles, dissertations, poems, short stories, nonfiction works, computer programs, websites, or dissertations.

• BOOKS & ARTICLES: Literary Work for novels, articles, dissertations, poems, short stories, nonfiction works, computer programs, websites, or dissertations.

• SOUND RECORDINGS: Sound Recording for sound recordings and musical works expressed in the recording. Note that if you register both the sound recording and music for a single work, the author and claimant must be the same person.

• MUSICAL COMPOSITIONS: For original songs or instrumental pieces, musical composition structure, or the process of creating a new song or music piece.

• PHOTOGRAPHY: Work of the Visual Arts for photographs. This category deals with reproduction, distribution, modification, and illegal reproduction or modification. Ownership rights for pictures are treated under the broader “Work of the Visual Arts” category.

• VISUAL ARTS & GRAPHICS: For artwork, graphics, logos, sculptures, paintings, drawings, jewelry designs, comic strips, fabric or textile designs, or pictorials.

• TECHNICAL WORKS: Works of the Visual Arts for technical drawing, drafting, or drawing, which visually communicates how something is constructed or functions.

• PERFORMING ARTS & SCREENPLAYS: Work of the Performing Arts for dramatic works such as screenplays, plays, or scripts. This category also applies to musical works with or without lyrics.
